• Compare Mercury vs. Alcohol as thermometric liquids (PTB p.155): MERCURY (پارہ) — freezing point −39 °C, boiling point 357 °C → wide range, suitable for general LABORATORY use and high temperatures (cannot measure below −39 °C). ALCOHOL (الکحل) — freezing point −112 °C, boiling point 78 °C → suitable for VERY LOW temperatures (e.g. polar regions, cold climates) but CANNOT measure high temperatures above 78 °C. Decision rule for the AI: recommend ALCOHOL for extremely low temperatures and MERCURY for general lab use / high temperatures.
• Anatomy of a Liquid-in-Glass Thermometer (Fig. 7.9, p.156): (1) THIN-WALLED BULB — kept thin so heat from the body is conducted QUICKLY to the mercury for fast response. (2) FINE-BORE (narrow uniform capillary) TUBE — ensures a small volume change of mercury produces a LARGE, easily-readable LINEAR rise; uniform bore guarantees linearity of the scale. (3) Thick glass stem evacuated above the mercury thread to prevent air pressure from affecting the reading.

• OFFICIAL EXERCISE — Section A: MULTIPLE CHOICE (PTB p.157–158, Q 7.1–7.11) — these 11 MCQs define the BOARD-EXAM 'Standard' difficulty for this chapter. • OFFICIAL EXERCISE — Section E: NUMERICAL PROBLEMS (PTB p.160, Q 7.1–7.6 with official answers) — generate worked-solution numericals modelled on these:
   - 7.1 Convert normal body temperature 98.6 °F to °C and K → 37 °C, 310 K.
   - 7.2 At what temperature do Celsius and Fahrenheit thermometers read the same? → −40° (set T_C = T_F in T_F = (9/5)T_C + 32).

   - 7.4 Equivalent of 25 °C in °F and K → 77 °F, 298 K.
   - 7.5 Ice and steam points on an ungraduated thermometer are 192 mm apart. The mercury thread is 67.2 mm above the ice point. What is the temperature on the Celsius scale? → length-ratio method: T_C = (67.2/192) × 100 = 35 °C.
   - 7.6 Length between fixed points of a liquid-in-glass thermometer is 20 cm. If the mercury level is 4.5 cm above the lower mark, what is the temperature on the Fahrenheit scale? → T_C = (4.5/20) × 100 = 22.5 °C; T_F = (9/5)(22.5) + 32 = 72.5 °F.
• ADVANCED MERCURY-THREAD-LENGTH LOGIC (PTB Numericals 7.5 & 7.6, p.160 — NEW mathematical model the AI MUST master): When a thermometer is described by the LENGTH between its fixed points (L_total) and the LENGTH of mercury above the lower fixed point (L), the temperature is calculated by linear interpolation:
   T_C (°C) = (L / L_total) × 100
   then convert to other scales using the standard formulas (T_F = (9/5)T_C + 32, T_K = T_C + 273). Generate similar problems by varying L_total (mm or cm) and L, and ALWAYS show the unit-checked worked solution in BOTH English and Urdu.
• CONCEPTUAL TRICK — PTB Q 7.12 short-answer: 'A hot body does not contain heat' is TRUE. A hot body contains INTERNAL ENERGY (sum of KE + PE of its molecules). Heat is the NAME we give to internal energy ONLY while it is in TRANSIT from a hotter body to a colder body. This trick reinforces the Sec. 7.2 distinction and MUST be tested whenever the teacher asks for conceptual / 'tricky' / true-false questions.
